Should planning permission be required, we are experienced working with local planning authorities to gain approvals including many in difficult locations.

Although we didn’t proceed with the project, Andy provided us with some sound advice and was very quick to respond to our advert and to any questions we had. Thoroughly recommended.

We decided to build a new house within our own grounds. The site was far from straight forward and presented some unique challenges due to its contours and shape. After obtaining outline planning permission we commenced the process of selecting an architect and contacted four regional architectural practices. Following four visits to site from the respective architects we remained unconvinced about the proposals obtained, none of which really excited or appealed to us. Subsequently whilst perusing the national press we alighted on an article about an innovative house built in Cornwall, which had won an architectural award. To our pleasant surprise the responsible architectural practice one just a few miles from our house, we therefore contacted them. Our first contact with the practice was through the Director Robert who paid a site visit and discussed terms etc. He recommended Andy to visit the site and talk us through his ideas/proposals. We were immediately impressed by his vision for the site (which as stated was far from straight forward) and which surpassed anything previously presented to us. We did not hesitate in appointing Andy and the practice to design and supervise the build of our house. Throughout the design and planning permission phases of the project Andy displayed total professionalism and dedication to obtaining the desired result for us his clients. He patiently answered all our queries and accommodated any changes we requested or rationalized why they were not in all cases recommended for technical, architectural or cost reasons. During the complex construction phase Andy was always available to resolve issues or to answer/resolve any reservations we raised as the project progressed. The end result was greatly to our satisfaction, we have a unique house and we are delighted with the finish, design and ambience of the house. In summary we have no hesitation in writing this recommendation for use by anyone contemplating using Andy’s services.
Peter and Lot Clark, new house, Derbyshire
We had a good idea what it was we wanted from our extension, [Andy's practice] helped us realize this and more. It was the little extras, which we hadn’t thought of, that truly made this extension what it is. What we lacked in width, the architects made up for in height. Like utilizing the difference in level at the front and back of the house, creating a split level ground floor, which ads both interest and ceiling height. Or taking the ceiling all the way into the eaves in the upstairs master suite, adding 3 roof lights, creating both light and space in a room which could have easily have felt dark and narrow. Our son loves the floor to ceiling windows in his play room, allowing him to watch the world go by outside while he plays. And the timber screen means that although we have full view out, the insight is limited so you never feel exposed. We were a little bit worried about how the neighbours would receive our extension, as it is different from all other houses in our he area and although we loved the style, it was potentially not everyone’s cup of tea. But we needn’t have worried. The response we have got has been consistently positive and for the first couple of months, we couldn’t leave the house without someone commenting, asking questions or complimenting us on the extension. It has certainly been a talking point in the area, but thankfully for all the right reasons.
Client of Sheffield home extension
We had a vision of what we wanted our extension to look like from the start. We did meet with another architect before contacting you and felt the other architect did not share our vision. You have embraced our vision and delivered something far better than we imagined at the start. You helped us look at many options, raise questions that were necessary and over time you have delivered everything we wanted and more. You made us explore all options and expanded our vision, you’ve given us something that completely works for our family needs and a space that we are feeling the benefits of immediately. Thank you
