Martin worked on our project for stages 1-3. His support and knowledge has been invaluable in guiding us through the process.

Martin is very professional, yet remained keen to listen to, and incorporate our needs in the design.

We are a 100% happy with our choice of architect and the drawings and plans he produced for us. The process has been stress free.

Martin has been fantastic in his capacity as architect & designer throughout the duration of my project and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking to do a similar project. Martin clearly knows his stuff and has shown himself to be courteous, proactive, reliable and a good communicator throughout and I honestly could not have completed my project without him.

My project consisted of a full width rear extension including reconfiguration of the ground floor layout, conversion of the loft for a new bedroom with ensuite bathroom and modernisation of the property with new services/finishes throughout to a 1930s 3 bed mid-terrace London property.

I shortlisted and talked to a number of architects at the start of my project and Martin was the only one who fully understood the gap between the scope of my plans vs. my budget yet still managed to come up with a solution that enabled me to go ahead and come in within the estimated cost by way of detailed iterative budget planning exercises ahead of the tender stage.

Martin often went above and beyond the scope of his role to provide advice and to enable me to get the right things decided and done at the right time, as beyond the stage 1 (Feasibility Design Study), stage 2 (Planning Application), stage 3 (Detailed Design & Tender Package) I only had budget to hire him on an advisory role basis vs. full contract administration for stage 4 (Post Tender & Construction).

Martin was also very helpful in suggesting a number of Structural Engineers, Party Wall Surveyors, Building Control Inspectors and suppliers of glazing and internal fittings and fixtures that would suit my budget and that he could recommend based on past experience – these sort of contacts are not what the average person holds in their address book, so this input from Martin was invaluable!

Some challenges to my build which Martin handled perfectly consisted of the necessity for a build-over application with Thames Water to build over a manhole for an existing shared sewer running through a part of my garden that the rear extension is now built (approved without issues) as well as the special request to have anthracite coloured windows and sliding doors throughout the back of the property when the council’s planning department would really have wanted white (replace like for like), again approved without issues.

Martin was brilliant from start to finish. He helped us develop a beautiful vision for our home renovation and extension. He was creative in his design ideas, and helped my partner and I combine our ideas into one tasteful vision. His suggestions were always helpful and well thought out and he worked to consider our budgetary requirements and help us maximise our limited funds. He made the planning process a breeze and was very helpful in providing cost estimates throughout. He also helped enormously when it came to identifying suppliers for various items – from glazing to bathroom sanitary ware, lighting and tiles, etc. Sadly we were unable to use him in stages 4&5 due to our budget but he set us up very nicely to be able to manage the contract administration ourselves. We honestly cannot recommend him enough – he made our project so much less stressful and his eye for detail has made managing the builders so much easier. We were very impressed by the level of detail in his plans also and this was echoed by a number of builders who we spoke to (which gave us confidence that we had indeed made a great decision appointing Martin to the job!).
