I run an architectural practice near London and live in Kent. I have just built my second house for our family. We have also worked on a number of private houses - new-builds, extensions and refurbishments - and we have completed a new house in Tunbridge Wells, one near Sevenoaks amd another one on the Wentworth Estate. My latest house for our family has borehole heating, a well, solar electric and solar hot water panels and many other energy-saving systems. I have a lot of experience with gaining planning consents, especially for tricky sites. Most of all I aim for my houses to provide a feeling of serenity and to let in lots of light.

Mathew came round and gave us an initial free consultation. Was a very informative meeting, giving some good advice.

Rear Extension

★★★★★
After a frustrating couple of years having several planning applications rejected we sought advice from the person who lived in a contemporary house we had often admired. It turned out that this was Matthew Wintersgill of W&M Architects. He went on to analyse the reasons why our applications had failed and we immediately felt he understood our requirements and how to have the design accepted by the local planning authorities. We therefore asked Matthew to design our house and he fortunately agreed. On completion we immediately won the Civic Society award and we remain delighted with the light, airy, low energy spaces that Matthew has created and considerate ourselves very fortunate to live in such a beautiful house.
Andrew - New build house

Hassan, New flat
Working with a very tired Edwardian, vacant ex nursing home on multiple levels, Matthew transformed the space into 5 large bright apartments and a superb townhouse that adding significant value to the development. Although the footprint was a tricky corner plot, all of the units ultimately benefitted from either a good sized garden or a large balcony. We ended up selling the units quickly (with multiple offers) and the sale prices exceeded our initial estimates. Very knowledgeable and Very Impressed!
