I work with a practice in Ampfield near Romsey. There are 30 of us, architects, planners, urban designers and ecologists. My preferred focus is 'design led' residential and commercial projects, preferably with complex constraints (policy, heritage, conservation etc). Contemporary, site sensitive, 'well mannered' architecture is my creative niche, rather than pastiche or singular 'style.' Previously, I was one of the youngest Directors of the only publicly listed UK architects. I have sat on the International Property Awards Judging Panel for 10 years and the Southampton City Council Design Advisory Panel for 9 years. The client / architect relationship is very important and the 'chemistry' is key too, to foster an open and collaborative dialogue, to achieve the optimum design.
