I am a New Zealand-born British-qualified architect and hold architecture degrees from the University of Auckland, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the Bartlett (UCL). I am a practicing architect and I have also taught in architecture schools in the UK and US. I founded the practice in 2002 and since then, the practice has collectively developed a particular specialism in designing house extensions across almost every borough of London and further—from Brighton to Oxfordshire and as far as New Zealand, Australia and the US.Our designs for rear extensions, loft extensions, basements, and renovations have transformed the way our clients inhabit their homes. Each of our projects delivers our clients’ aims and aspirations, while also creating a building and interiors that are compositions of sculptural form and space—walls, floors, ceilings, and storage expressed as abstract planes and volumes. While being ever-conscious of environmental performance and impacts, our projects also curate and re-frame the context and history of each site. We revel in the processes of writing, drawing, model-making, demolition, construction, and photography, and attempt to capture in the finished building the delightful open-endedness of these processes of making architecture.
