We are huge fans of the Miami Beach trend that has emerged in the UK over the past couple of years. The vibrant pastel colours and glamorous holiday vibes bring sheer joy. This trend combines bold, glitzy, and colourful elements with natural materials such as rattan, bamboo, teak, and wicker. As a result, you can adjust these elements to suit your preferences and evoke the desired mood.
What is the Miami Beach style?
Miami Beach interior style, also known as Miami Vice style or Miami Deco, is a design aesthetic that originated in the 1980s in Miami, Florida. Since then, it has become an iconic representation of the region’s vibrant, tropical atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from sources such as the Art Deco movement, the city’s coastal environment, and the glamorous Miami lifestyle, this style has made a lasting impact.
Colours
Pastels all the way! Embrace soft muted shades like aqua, coral, peach, mint, and baby blue. These colours often serve as delightful pops of colour against a more natural palette.

Art Deco
Miami has the highest concentration of Art Deco buildings in the world. The Art Deco movement, which flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric shapes, sleek lines, and decorative elements. Miami interiors typically incorporate curved furniture, rounded edges, and symmetrical patterns.

Tropical motifs
Miami architects often incorporated local tropical imagery and motifs as decorative elements, giving rise to the term ‘Tropical Deco.’ These motifs included palm trees, pineapples, ocean-liners, and flamingos. Their purpose was to reinforce Miami Beach’s identity as a coastal resort and create a playful and exotic look. Depending on your desired level of kitsch and playfulness, the use of these images in artwork, fabrics, and wallpaper can be adjusted accordingly.

Miami Vice
The popular TV show ‘Miami Vice’ from the 1980s had a significant impact on the style. Its influence can be seen in the use of neon lights and bold colour combinations. Miami Vice-inspired elements like glass block walls, mirrored surfaces, and shiny metallic finishes often find their way into Miami interior design.

Indoor / Outdoor Living
Open and airy spaces, seamlessly connected to the garden, have become a fundamental element of modern architectural design in our homes. This concept harmonises perfectly with the Miami architectural style, characterised by open plan layouts and large windows that allow abundant natural light to illuminate the space. Additionally, balconies, terraces, and courtyards are often incorporated to provide extra areas for relaxation and entertainment.
In addition to bringing the outdoors in, consider extending your interiors to the garden. Outdoor rugs offer an incredibly effective (and affordable) way to achieve this, while also helping to define specific zones in your garden for lounging or dining.

Luxury Hotel Vibes
The Miami interior design embraces a sense of luxury and opulence. This is achieved through the use of plush fabrics, such as velvet and silk, as well as high-end materials like marble and polished metals. Crystal chandeliers, mirrored surfaces, and extravagant accessories contribute to the glamorous aesthetic.
