What is Japandi?
Japandi style is a mix of Japanese and Scandinavian influences, creating a simple and minimalist aesthetic that is perfect for modern homes. The look combines the best of both worlds, blending the clean lines and minimalism of Scandinavian design with the warmth and natural elements of Japanese style.
Japandi materials and colours
Natural materials such as wood, bamboo, stone, and rattan are all key elements in achieving the look. Wood floors, walls, and furniture are often seen in Japandi interiors, as well as natural fibres such as wool and cotton.
The colour palette of Japandi interiors is typically neutral, often focusing on natural tones such as whites, beiges, light greys, and tans. Black and darker shades of blue and green are also often used to provide subtle contrast and add depth to the design. Japandi style is characterised by its minimalism, so there is usually little to no clutter in the space. Furniture pieces are kept to a minimum, and the pieces that are used are often streamlined and simple, such as low–profile seating, wooden tables, and clean–lined shelving.
