Interior design of a two bedroom flat
My partner and I are purchasing a new build, two bedroom flat and as first time home owners we have nothing in the way of furniture. We are looking for someone to help us make the best use of the space and interpret our style.
The flooring, kitchen cabinets and bathrooms are all set and can not be changed.
We have an open plan kitchen / living area, the master bedroom, hallway (which we need lights and storage for) and a second room which we would like to use as an office / guest bedroom.
Here at Design for Me, we’ve helped thousands of homeowners all over the UK to find the best interior designer for their project.

Through Design for Me, Sandrine narrowed down her search and ultimately found the perfect fit for her project in interior designer, Linsey:
My name is Linsey and I am the founder of an interior design and architecture studio in South London with ten years’ experience in the industry. I have been passionate about design my whole life and I love creating new and unique spaces. Today my studio focuses on delivering the highest quality designs and an excellent service at a competitive price. On every project I interpret my client’s unique wants, needs, budget and timescale to ensure that they end up with a beautiful space they are happy with.
Linsey on the design:
Before moving into their two bed, new build apartment in Fish Island Village in East London, our clients engaged us to create an exciting design to make the space feel like their own. They were interested in a contemporary, yet homely design, with pops of colour and clever storage.
We created a scheme tailored to their brief, introducing plenty of colour through upholstery items and specifying sleek furnishings and finishes. The colour palette mainly centred around blue tones as this was a favourite colour of the clients. We used different shades of blue throughout the apartment to make the whole space feel seamless as you moved between rooms.
To create a dynamic contrast and help keep the space visually appealing, we offset these blue tones with touches of tan and mustard.
The master bedroom was certainly a feature room in the space with a fitted panelled headboard designed by us alongside wall lighting. We also added in vintage pieces of furniture in the master bedroom to help keep the space feeling homely.
One of the main items in the brief was storage. For example, in the second bedroom our clients wanted to be able to use the space as both a spare guest bedroom and a work from home space. To solve this, we helped design and install a bespoke murphy bed alongside our joiner which allows the space to operate as both a study or bedroom depending on the need.
A happy client…
We absolutely love our new/first home. Linsey and the team are an absolute pleasure to work with. Her first mood board was spot on and we loved how collaborative the team were on the furniture selection. Overall the project was very well managed and was completed on time. I would not hesitate to recommend Linsey and her studio and will use their services in the future.
