Leo, interior designer in South East London

I love to collaborate with good people to create awesome spaces: kindly, economically, thoughtfully and creatively.

My particular design strengths are an ability to work with tight budgets (which I can find very creative) and to intuitively understand how people really inhabit and use spaces, which ensures that any of my designs will function really well first and foremost.

I have good experience sourcing vintage and reclaimed furniture, which I love to mix with both high street and designer brands. I am also very interested in the power of colour and work to use colours intelligently and sensitively within any interior design.

I always work hard to ensure that my projects are delivered on time and budget.

Leo on the brief:

We were part of a team that transformed a wonderful new home at Brayards Road, a Victorian terraced house in Peckham. We worked alongside contractor Pavel Szobak at Platinum Homes Construction Ltd and brought our regular collaborator, architect Joe Morizzo, onto this project.

Starting with a site visit and survey, we decided that we would keep the layout downstairs largely as it was, designing a new kitchen with separate utility space and new shower room. However, in order to make this work and to create a larger bathroom upstairs, we needed to remove the chimney breast on both the ground and first floors to create additional space at the back of the property. This has required a structural engineer report as well as going through the processes required for a party wall agreement and building control, but this has all been suitably straightforward.

Leo on the design:

The bathroom and kitchen designs have taken a lot of planning – our starting point for this has been a statement tiled floor in both bathrooms and hallway entrance.  We have designed bespoke colourful hexagonal tiles with Popham Design in Morocco.

We have taken the six colours in these tiles as the basis of our colour palette for the house.

In the second bedroom we created a study with sofa bed, so that this spare room can be used regularly as a home office by our client. We decided on Pea Green by Little Greene for this room, to create a peaceful and yet upbeat feel in the room.

A happy client…

Leo lives up to her design ethos. She listened closely to how I wanted to use my house and carefully planned each room to maximise its potential and livability. Leo has seriously improved my home in ways I never would have considered without her.
